Pressure is mounting from the management of pulp companies and the wood-based materials industry on their timber purchasing organizations. Timber buyers have limited room for maneuver in negotiations, most of which are scheduled for the second half of June. The same applies to the other party, i.e. the sawmills supplying by-products. Their economic situation hardly allows any price concessions. Production trends in sawmills and pellet mills will remain a decisive factor for by-product prices in the third quarter. Potential shutdowns of production in the pulp industry are increasingly considered.
