Norwegian pulp factory now belongs to Austrian group
The Swedish forestry, wood and paper group Södra, Växjö, has sold its temporarily inoperative pulp mill Follafoss to Mayr-Melnhof Karton, Vienna. The Austrian company has acquired all the shares of Södra Cell Folla AS. According to a press release sent out by Södra, production in Follafoss ended in late October of last year. Negotiations between the companies which had started already before Christmas (see link 1) have now been successfully completed.
Follafoss has an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of chemi-thermomechanical pulp (CMTP). With this move, Södra has withdrawn from the CMTP-market. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
