Martin Neumeyer occurs was appointed as chairman of the Bavarian State Forests as of early April. He is to follow Austrian native Rudolf Freidhager who has taken on the top position at the Austrian Federal Forests.

After training as a banker and studying law, Neumayer worked as a judge at the District Court of Munich. In 1994 he was press secretary to then Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber, in 2004 he also assumed the position of speaker of the Bavarian government.
