The Austrian Timber Industry Association identifies a log price index of 157.03% (base: January 2001 = 100%) for the month of September. Compared to August, the index value fell by 6.44 percentage points. Year on year, there was hardly any change. In September 2021, the log price index was at 158.03%, so it was exactly one point higher. The log price index had reached its highest value since records began in June 2022 (182.82%).
A different development can be observed with the lumber price index. Compared to August, it fell by 12.8 percentage points to 192.55%. Compared to September 2021, an even bigger decrease of 47.35 points was recorded. A year ago, the Austrian Timber Industry Association reported a lumber price index of 239.9%.
