Much smaller volumes of softwood logs exported

Until the end of May, Germany saw its log exports decrease to nearly all important foreign markets. However, four countries stand out with increases in the Top 10 ranking.

In the first five months, German softwood log exports decreased by 25% year on year to 2.5 million m³. Exports to Austria were down by 4% and totaled only 922,0000 m³, while shipments to China decreased by 47% to 546,000 m³. A downward trend can also be observed in sales to the Czech Republic (-4%), Poland (-67%), Luxembourg (-23%) and Switzerland (-45%).

Increases were recorded in softwood log exports to Belgium (256,000 m³; +15%), the Netherlands (55,000 m³; +16%) and, in particular, to Sweden (53,000 m³; +439%) and Romania (45,000 m³; +211%).
