Article by Philipp Matzku (translated by Eva Guzely) | 28.01.2025 - 08:49

In November 2024, German shipments to China accounted for 44% of total exports. Germany exported 251,000 m³ of beech logs there, i.e. a quarter more than in the first eleven months of 2023. With a trade volume of 200,000 m³ (+5%), Austria ranks second behind China. In total, Germany exported 80% of its beech logs to these two countries.

32,000 m³ each were exported to Denmark and Sweden. Beech log exports to Denmark doubled in the first eleven months of 2024, whereas those to Sweden increased by 47%.

Deliveries to Belgium (8,100 m³; -66%) and the Netherlands (4,000 m³; -26%), on the other hand, decreased compared to 2023. Meanwhile, exports to Luxembourg skyrocketed by 1,673%, from a negligible volume of 353 m³ in the first eleven months of 2023 to nearly 6,300 m³ in the same period last year.
