After seven weeks on the record level of around 960 USD/1000 bft, the 2-by-4 price (Western SPF, KD, #2 & better) fell by approximately 100 USD/1000 bft in the past two weeks to currently 851 USD/1000 bft. This is according to Madison’s Lumber Reporter. With an exchange rate of 1.17 $/€, European exporters now earn 471 €/m³ which is around 60 €/m³ below the record levels recorded in the months of September and October. However, the price is still 220 €/m³ higher than it was in the same period of last year.
In 2020, the average price of this assortment is 321 €/m³. Last year, 2-by-4 cost on average 248 €/m³.
