Record year for the German sawmill industry

In 2020, German sawmills saw their overall sales reach the highest level of the past years. In the month of December, performance was also much better than in previous years.

In December 2020, Germany’s sawmill industry generated sales worth € 350.75 million, which is a 22.8% increase compared to December 2019 (€ 285.65 million). This is according to data published by Destatis.

Overall, sales amounted to around € 5.05 billion € in 2020. It is the highest value of the past years and a 6% increase compared to 2019 (€ 4.76 billion). Compared to 2018 (€ 4.89 billion), German sawmills recorded a 3% rise, while overall sales were up by 10.8% compared to 2017 (€ 4.55 billion).
