According to Destatis, the German sawmill industry generated sales worth €667.8 million in May, exceeding the very high value recorded in April (€626.83 million) by another 6.5% and reaching a new record level. Compared to last year, sales grew by 61.8% (May 2020: €412.64 million). A 51% increase was recorded compared to May 2019 (€442.16 million).
From January to May, sales totaled around €2.793 billion, up by 40% compared to the same period of last year (€1.998 billion). In comparison with the first five months of 2019, when sales amounted to €2.048 billion, the German sawmill industry recorded a 36.4 % increase.
