On August 25, Madison’s Lumber Reporter reported a softwood lumber price of US-$420/1,000 bft (2-by-4; Western SPF, KD, #2 & better). Thus, after the downward trend of the last two weeks, the price rose again by US-$10/1,000 bft last week.
For European exporters, this means an increase of €8/m³ to €251/m³ (converted into actual size; delivered to the Great Lakes region). Compared to the same week of last year, however, a decrease of €100/m³ was recorded. The current 2-by-4 price is also €50/m³ lower than the ten-year average (2013 to 2022).
