Article by Martina Nöstler (translated by Eva Guzely) | 29.11.2024 - 08:46

China imported 9.6 million m³ of softwood lumber from Russia, i.e. around 4% fewer than last year. In the first ten months, decreases were also recorded in imports from Finland (530,000 m³; -21%), Germany (402,000 m³; -33%), Sweden (364,000 m³; -44%) and Chile (218,000 m³; -26%).

Meanwhile, deliveries from Canada grew slightly (1.06 million m³; +1%), and substantially bigger volumes of softwood lumber were purchased from Belarus (975,000 m³; +37%) and the US (182,000 m³; +51%).

Thus, in the first ten months, Chinese imports of softwood lumber decreased by 5% year on year to 14.2 million m³.
