From January to November 2024, Germany exported 8.25 million m³ of softwood lumber, recording a 9% decrease year on year and of nearly 17% compared to the record eleven-month period in 2022 (9.89 million m³).

The US were once again the most important foreign sales market with a trade volume of 1.89 million m³, even though German shipments there were down by almost 17% compared to the first eleven months of 2023.

Exports to Austria decreased by 2% to 733,000 m³, and those to France fell by 10% to 665,000 m³. Other important export markets included the Netherlands (612,000 m³; -2%), Belgium (593,000 m³; +2%) and Italy (506,000 m³; -4%).

Data published by Destatis were used for this analysis. In the Datacube, you can find all the export markets and the respective trade volumes going all the way back to the year 2006.
