Schindler & Scheibling is a timber construction company based in the Zurich Oberland region with a multifaceted team of architects, carpenters, sawyers, draftsmen, technicians and engineers. The company designs, develops, plans and implements – naturally and individually – from and with wood.

"Technowood has shown us a way to evolve our long-standing HolzEcht solid wood house with their lay-up, drilling and dowelling portal as well as the portal robot," says an enthusiastic Fabian Scheibling, head of sales and product development at Schindler&Scheibling. The HolzEcht solid wood system is a solution that does not require any glue, steel or insulating materials. The solution tailored to the requirements of the Swiss timber construction firm is called Twoods-Line and consists of an 80m long assembly table with versatile mobile gantries. "With the TW-Mill E, we can fully cover the entire range of our products with one single machine, even leaving potential for new ideas and solutions," Scheibling elaborates on the many possibilities with the system.

The newly built Frauwis production hall is a lighthouse project for timber construction. The five tree supports forming the heart of the hall illustrate all the possibilities that hardwood offers. The knots of the supports connect traditional timber construction with modern glulam construction, smoothly blending the supports into the spacious timber framework. The roof, consisting of trussed solid wood spiders, forms the connection to the standing timber frameworks.
Well-rounded total package
The Twoods production line creates HolzEcht solid wood elements with a minimum of manpower: in practice, production is run with only two people. Thanks to the plant‘s high level of flexibility, however, even more is possible. The high requirements of both solid wood and timber frame construction element production are met across the entire 80m of the line. It is the first plant that allows the production for both types of construction in a large vertical range of manufacture on one line. Furthermore, general panel materials, glulam and cross-laminated timber as well as free-form parts can be produced.
