According to data collected by Statistik Austria, Italy was once again the most important market with an export volume of 549,000 m³ (-8%). It has to said, however, that Austrian regulations on data collection and reporting differ from those in Italy, which makes it very difficult to compare foreign trade data especially when it comes to laminated timber. According to Eurostat (which analyzes the product group 44189910), Italy imported 422,000 m³ of laminated timber from Austria in the first ten months.
Germany (320,000 m³; -13%), France (125,000 m³; -7%) and Switzerland (114,000 m³; +8%) were other important export markets for Austrian glulam and CLT.
Shipments to Japan, Austria’s biggest overseas market, decreased by 38% to 64,000 m³.
