The start of production at the plant in Pagiriai, near the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, was originally scheduled for the end of 2023, but was then delayed due to technical problems which were resolved at the beginning of 2024. The further delay is caused by the existing environmental permit which the management considers to be insufficiently robust to enable the economic and competitive production at the plant.
In order to limit operating costs until the necessary permits are obtained, Homann Holzwerkstoffe’s management has decided to implement part-time work for the employees who are already working in Lithuania. Also, further training measures will be carried out to ensure a smooth start of production.
