Different developments of prices

In Austria and Switzerland, the neutral pellet price rose again in August. In Germany, on the other hand, it fell for the first time since March. Compared to the same month of last year, Germany has recorded a decrease which is nearly twice as big as the one recorded in Austria.

In Austria, the neutral pellet price (without VAT, transport and handling costs) is at €306.3/t in August and thus €3.1/t higher compared to the previous month. In August 2022, pellets cost €403.4/t, i.e. €97.1/t more than now.

In Germany, buyers pay a neutral price of €279.4/t in August. Compared to July (€292.6/t), the pellet price increased by €13.2/t. Compared to August 2022 (€475.2/t), it decreased by €195.8/t.

In Switzerland, the neutral pellet price rose by €11.6/t, from €321.4/t in July to €333/t in August. Year on year, a decrease of €34.9/t was recorded. The ten-year average price, which is less sensitive to currency fluctuations, fell by €18.6/t to €292.2/t and is now approximately at the level recorded in July 2022 (€294/t).
