Pellet prices still falling

In Austria, the neutral pellet price (without VAT, transport and handling costs) is at €214.9/t in May. Compared to the previous month, the pellet price fell by €3/t. Year on year (May 2023: €252.4/t), a decrease of €37.5/t is recorded. 

An even bigger decrease was recorded in Germany. Compared to April, the neutral pellet price fell by €5.7 to €193.2/t. Compared to May 2023, it is down by €55.2/t. As a look in the Datacube shows, November 2021 (€183.7/t) was the last month in which pellets were even cheaper.

In Switzerland, the neutral pellet price is at €268.5/t in May. At -€27.3/t, this country recorded the biggest month-on-month decrease. One year ago, pellets still cost €301.2/t. The ten-year average price, which is less affected by fluctuations in the currency exchange rate, is at €243.4/t in May (-€24.5/t compared to April; -€25.3/t compared to May 2023).
