3500 hectares affected
After Croatia has been plagued by forest fires for days on end, a state of emergency was declared for the peninsula of Peljesac and the island of Korcula. According to the Austrian newpaper derStandard.at, so far 3500 hectares of forest were destroyed by the flames.
On the Istrian peninsula up north another 500 hectares of forest fell victim to the fire.
