Sawlog price index up by 9%

European sawlog price index (ESPI) above €80/m³

As a result of the strong European and North American demand for lumber in the first quarter, the global and European sawlog price indices continued their upward trend.

In the first quarter, the global sawlog price index (GSPI) rose for a third time in a row, reaching $79/m³ (€67/m³). As Wood Resources International (WRI) reports, it is much higher than the ten-year average.

In Europe, the sawlog price index (ESPI) rose to €81.44/m³ in the first quarter, recording a 9% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. Year on year, the Baltic states and Eastern Europe recorded the biggest price increases.
