From January to June, around 731,000 m³ of oak logs arrived in the Middle Kingdom. What stands out in particular is the big increase in imports from Europe, which grew by 44% and totaled around 553,000 m³.

About 56% of the European oak log wood grew in French forests. In the first half-year, France sold 312,000 m³ to China. Since 2010, the country has been the most important supplier. The US follow in second place with a considerable distance: In the first six months, 157,000 m³ of oak logs were shipped to China.

Skyrocketing Bosnia

Bosnia and Herzegovina saw its oak wood shipments skyrocket by 1,632% compared to the first six months of 2021. With a volume of 37,972 m³, the Balkan country outperformed Germany, among others.

Chinese imports from Russia, on the other hand, decreased by 99%, both in terms of the volume and the value. From January to June, only 1,174 m³ of oak logs were bought from Russia. This is according to data published by the Chinese Customs Authorities.
