In the years from 2025 to 2029, a total of 2,000 hectares are to be reforested, and 500,000 m³ of log wood are to be harvested from an area of 45,000 hectares. The State Forests’ tender was primarily aimed at areas, which were affected by calamities in the past, such as the Vysočina region in southern Moravia. In the region east of Brno, “36,000 hectares of clearings were recorded at the height of the calamity in 2021. In 2024, there will be still be 19,500 hectares of clearings. Over the course of next year, another 5,000 hectares are to be reforested,” Dalibor Šafařík, General Director of Lesy ČR, explained.

Already last year, the Czech State Forests had awarded contracts for the harvest of 5 million m³ of logs worth €210 million. The Czech forestry company Uniles, which is part of the Agrofert Group, already received several contracts in previous years. This time, too, six of the twelve contracts put out to tender were awarded to Uniles, as silvarium.cz reports.
