2013 machinery sales picked up in North America and Asia
In 2013, Italian wood machinery manufacturer Biesse massively increased operating results (EBIT) to 18.1 million (from 0.3 million a year earlier) on the back of net revenues decreasing by 1.2% to 378.4 million. The Biesse Group also reduced debts by more than half to 23.9 million. Net operating working capital, as a result, fell to a record low. Markets in North America, Asia and East Europe have seen increases of total sales shares while those for West Europe, South America and Africa fell.
Also for the year running, Biesse managers are confident poised by an order intake which increased by 7.8% to 313 million in 2013 compared to the prior year. Until 2016, they intend to step up the EBIT’s margin on revenues from 4.8% to 10.1%.

From January to October, the US imported 28.03 million m³ of softwood lumber, i.e. 421,000 m³ fewer compared to the same period last year. The EU-27’s share in total US imports fell by 3% to 11%.

In the first three quarters, Sweden’s softwood lumber exports decreased by 5% or 530,000 m³. Nevertheless, 2024 remains one of the strongest export years for the Scandinavian country.
