On April 20, a staff meeting was held at Klauser Holz Thüringen in Friesau/DE. The German industrial trade union IG Metall confirmed to the newspaper Ostthüringer Zeitung that a job cut was planned. It was said that 175 jobs could be affected. Yet this number has not been confirmed, saying it could be more or less than that. For months, the plant Friesau had seen short-time working and shift reductions. High roundwood prices were given as the reason for the economic difficulties, the newspaper reports. "Klausner has massive liquidity problems", the article says.

Klauser Holz Thüringen is about to adopt a new concept: "We intend to produce less with fewer people", union secretary Frank Lengert is quoted as saying by IG Metall. Upon a Timber-Online inquiry, Klausner Holz had recently stated it was planning for a log input volume of about 3 million solid m³ in 2015 for the two mills in Saalburg-Ebersdorf (Friesau) and Kodersdorf/DE.
