Germany exported more softwood sawn timber

From January to October 2019, Germany exported 7.36 million m³ of softwood sawn timber (including planed goods) which, according to Destatis, corresponds to an increase of 6% compared to the same period of 2018. The US received 950,000 m³ and thus 15% more softwood sawn timber than in 2018. There was a strong growth in exports to China (+451% to 639,000 m³). According to Customs Statistics China, the country imported an overall 23.6 million m³ of softwood sawn timber in the period January to October 2019.

Exports to Austria (776,000 m³; +1%) and France (708,000 m³; -1%) remained relatively stable in the first ten months of last year, whereas sales in the Netherlands decreased by 10% to 702,000 m³.
