In 2019, Italy imported 3.87 million m³ of softwood sawn timber including planed timber. In 2018, imports were at 3.96 million m³.
Volumes bought from Austria remained nearly stable at 2.03 million m³ (+1%), while 5% more (99,100 m³) arrived from Slovenia.
According to Eurostat, there were decreases in imports from Germany (450,000 m³; -6%), Ukraine (216,000 m³; -9%) and the Czech Republic (171,000 m³; -2%).
