Softwood sawn timber exports up again

From January to September, Sweden exported 10.4 million m³ of softwood sawn and planed timber. According to statistikdatabasen, exports were at 9.4 million m³ in the same period of last year.

Main customer Great Britain bought 1.8 million m³ of softwood sawn timber, i.e. 6.8% less than in the first three quarters of 2019 when the country received 1.9 million m³. An increase of 2.9% was recorded in shipments to Egypt, bringing the total to 1.09 million m³ in the first nine months of 2020. Last year, Sweden’s second most important export market bought 1.05 million m³.

The biggest increases were recorded in softwood sawn timber exports to the US (631,000 m³; +85%), China (727,000 m³; +30%) and Germany (660,000 m³; +22%).
