In the first stage, the company wants to cut 500,000 cubic meters of pine and spruce logs per year. For HS Timber Group, this will correspond to a 10% increase in production. The focus is on further processing including the connected pelletizing plant. The planned sawmill in Belarus is an addition to the existing production sites in Germany and Romania. The good connection to the Polish port of Gdansk and the connection to the European and Russian railway system offer important strategic advantages.
230 people are going to work at the sawmill which will be operated by HS Timber Group subsidiary HS Belacon OOO.
As the company emphasizes in a press release, “HS Timber Group establishes a strong and transparent security structure in the supply chain right from the beginning. […] HS Timber Group actively assumes responsibility for the environment and is explicitly committed to not using wood from national parks, but only from sustainably managed forests. Log wood availability is good in Belarus. All forest companies in the country are certified for their sustainable forest management.”
