West Fraser paid US-$300 million (€260 million) for the sawmill in east Texas. The facility was put into operation in 2019 and is to reach its full production capacity of over 700,000 m³ of lumber in the coming three to four years.
After the closing of the takeover, West Fraser’s overall production capacity in Canada and the US will amount to more than 16 million m³. Around half of the wood cut by the group is Southern Yellow Pine (SYP).
For West Fraser, the takeover is of great strategical importance and another important step in the group’s continued expansion of its operations on the US lumber market.
