US price stable for now

In the week of July 18, 2-by-4 (Western SPF, KD, #2 & better) cost US-$684/1,000 bft according to Madison’s Lumber Reporter. Compared to mid-June, when the US price was at its lowest level so far this year, this corresponds to an increase of around US-$150/1,000 bft.

With the two currencies being close to parity, European exporters recently earned €433/m³ (actual size). Here, the price has risen by €100/m³ since it hit the lowest level five weeks ago. Thus, there has been a certain stabilization for the past four weeks.

The Lumber Futures are much lower. With a predicted price of US-$526/1,000 bft in the month of September, prices might return to June levels.
