Growing imports from nearly all supplying countries

From January to October 2022, Italy’s softwood lumber imports (incl. planed timber) grew by 13% compared to the same period of 2021. This is according to Eurostat.

From January to October 2022, Italian imports of softwood lumber and planed timber grew by 13%, reaching a total of 3.89 million m³. According to Eurostat, 2.06 million m³ (+14%) were imported from Austria in this period. Double-digit increases were also recorded in shipments coming from Germany (463,000 m³; +19%), the Czech Republic (222,000 m³; +33%) and Finland (181,000 m³; +32%). Only imports from Ukraine and Switzerland saw year-on-year decreases.
