Article by Remo Bühler (translated by Eva Guzely) | 16.02.2023 - 09:40

Last year, German sawmills, planing mills, and wood impregnating facilities generated cumulated sales worth around €8.8 billion. In 2021, sales had totaled €7.4 billion. From January to May, €4.1 billion were generated, i.e. about 45% more than in the same period of 2021. In the past seven months, however, the were little year-on-year changes. This is according to a report by the German Federal Statistical Office Destatis, which was published on February 15.

Compared to the full years of 2020, 2019 and 2018, sales grew on average by 79%. An average value can be used here because the sales of these years were quite close together. On average, they totaled nearly €5 billion. In the years from 2011 to 2020, sales grew by an average of just 2% each year.
