Article by Eva Guzely | 03.04.2023 - 16:58

In the fourth quarter of 2022, Germany produced just under 5.63 million m³ of softwood lumber and planed timber. As data published by Destatis show, production output remained constant compared to the fourth quarter of 2021.

As for the full year 2022, the Federal Statistical Office reports a production volume of 24.39 million m³ and therefore a year-on-year decrease of 3.7% or nearly 950,000 m³. Compared to 2020, softwood lumber production was down by 3.3% or 820,000 m³. When comparing 2022 to 2019, however, one can see that softwood lumber output increased by 4.7% or 1.09 million m³.
