Lumber price index up

The Swedish lumber price index continued its upward trend in April. In fact, the index value has been rising steadily since the beginning of this year.

For the month of April, Statistics Sweden reports a producer price index of 138.6% for softwood lumber and planed timber (base: 2020 = 100%). Compared to March, the index value rose by 6.1 percentage points. Year on year, an increase of 10.8 percentage points was recorded. In April 2022, the index value was much higher at 182.6%. However, in the same month of 2021, the Swedish Statistical Office had reported a much lower value of 135.3%.

The Swedish lumber price index has risen steadily since the start of this year. In January, the index value was at 128% according to Statistics Sweden. Until April, it has thus increased by 10.6 percentage points.
