Egypt imported 467.000 m³ of Finnish softwood sawn timber, 9% less than in 2023. Exports by the Scandinavians to Great Britain (-11% to 343.000 m³), China (-15% to 263.000 m³), France (-23% to 225.000 m³), Germany (-12% to 223.000 m³), Saudi Arabia (-15% to 185.000 m³) and Israel (-25% to 165.000 m³), declined just as noticeably, according to figures from the Finnish customs authority.
Estonia received 320.000 m³, which is about the same amount imported from Finland in the same period last year.
Only to Japan did Finnish softwood sawn timber exports increase significantly, with 384.000 m³ exported to the Asian country, 29% more volume than in 2023. In the previous year, however, this was the lowest level since records began in 2002. On a long-term average (excluding 2023), Finland delivered 454.000 m³ of softwood sawn timber to Japan during the observation period.
