From January to July, Austrian exports of softwood lumber and planed timber grew by 8% or 260,000 m³ year on year. In the month of July, 555,700 m³, i.e. 20% more than last year, were exported. A look in the Foreign trade section of our Datacube shows that export volumes were always bigger in the first seven months of previous years (with the exception of 2020).
1.6 million m³ of softwood lumber were sold to Italy. Compared to 2023, the trade volume remained more or less constant. Exports to Germany decreased by 3% to 455,500 m³, while those to Slovenia increased slightly by 1% to 292,000 m³. The increase in total exports was possible mainly thanks to growing delivery volumes to Japan (124,000 m³; +57%), Croatia (116,000 m³; +22%) and the Czech Republic (96,000 m³; +31%).
