The recovery compared to 2023 is little consolation. As a look in the Datacube shows, Japan imported more than 4 million m³ in the first eleven months of previous years.
So far this year, Sweden delivered an above-average volume to Japan (711,000 m³; +40%). Shipments from Finland and Austria increased by 21% (in both countries, Stora Enso dominates trade with Japan).
Main supplier Canada only managed to increase its exports by 11% to 755,000 m³, and thus continued to lose market shares in Japan.
