In April 2023, the Hasslacher Group sold its Russian sawmill to the VLP Group. The new owner resumed its expansion plans that had already been made in 2018 and announced major investments shortly after the acquisition.
On its website vlp.eco, the company reports that the sawmill has recorded stable double-digit growth since the acquisition. For example, the cutting of log wood increased by almost 40% in 2024, and it is expected that this year’s sales will be 2.4 times higher than they were in 2023.
This year, the group plans to invest more than 2 billion rubles (over €19 million) in the further modernization of the mill, with the aim of increasing the raw material processing capacity and expanding the log procurement in the region. In addition, VLP plans to carry out what it refers to as a project involving the production of state-of-the-art structures for wooden house construction. The group probably means the construction of a glued timber plant which was already planned by Hasslacher in the past.
