In the first eight months, Austria exported a total of 1.28 million m³ of laminated timber. Despite a sharp decline in the second quarter due to COVID-19, exports only decreased by 3% compared to last year.
Shipments to main market Italy fell by 9% to 419,000 m³, while those to Germany rose by 3% to 331,000 m³. 108,000 m³ of glulam and CLT, i.e. 5% more than in the first eight months of 2019, were sold to Switzerland.
Austrian exports to France (103,000 m³; +0.4%) and Japan (95,000 m³; +2%) were more or less stable.
