Now it’s official: With the unveiling of the sign of HolzBauWerk Schwarzwald GmbH on March 1st, Peter Hauk, Minister for Rural Areas and Consumer Protection Baden-Württemberg, gave the official go-ahead for the first industrial CLT production site in the Black Forest.
In Seewald-Besenfeld in the district Freudenstadt, 35,000 m³ of cross-laminated timber a year are to be produced in the first stage. Production is to start in autumn 2022 and in the medium term, 40 jobs are to be created. This according to a press release.
Thus, the feasibility study, originally commissioned by the Forum Weißtanne and a cooperation of the three Black Forest-based sawmills and processing companies Sägewerk Echtle (Nordrach), Kübler Holzwerk (Haiterbach) and Sägewerk Streit (Hausach), produced a positive result.
