For new buildings, the nationwide timber construction rate was 22% and for non-residential buildings it rose to 23.4%. This is provided in the Zimmerer/Holzbau 2024 situation report published by Holzbau Deutschland.
The number of companies in the carpentry and timber construction industry in Germany fell to 12,143. This means that there were 14 less companies in 2023 than in 2022. The number of employees decreased by 0.6% to 74,239.
Timber construction is supported by the increase in modernization and renovation measures, among other things. The situation report reports a satisfactory mood among the timber construction companies. The order backlog stood at 18 weeks at the beginning of the year.
