Martin Brettenthaler, Chairman of the EPF and CEO of the Swiss Krono Group until the beginning of 2024, introduced the annual report of the European Panel Federation with the words “realistic optimism”. After the peak during the pandemic in 2021, producers of wood-based panels have seen their sales decrease again for two years. The slowdown in the construction industry and ongoing geopolitical unrest are putting additional pressure on the panel industry. However, it looks as if the bottom has been reached in 2024.
