Seven or eight years ago, it was foreseeable that North America would not be able to supply itself with softwood lumber in a sustainable manner. Binderholz recognized this and opened its own local sales office in 2018. At the end of 2019, Reinhard Binder predicted: “In 2020, Binderholz will generate higher sales in the US than in Italy.” In 2020, the company went all in and acquired Klausner’s two US sawmills.
