Timberhub is growing and expanding – both in terms of the countries the company operates in and the product categories. “Even though the timber industry is currently experiencing a difficult market situation, we are seeing significant growth every month. And we are far from done. On the contrary: We want to expand our services and further improve our offers for our suppliers and buyers,” Dimitris Pagkratis, co-founder and CEO of Timberhub, says confidently.
Wide range of products
Initially, Timberhub focused primarily on pallet and packaging wood. Today, the online marketplace offers a wide range of products. In addition to domestic softwood and hardwood lumber, Timberhub even sells tropical woods alongside numerous construction and glued timber products. “Since our expansion into France and, most recently, Great Britain, we teamed up with our first partners from the hardwood and construction sectors. This enables us to offer hardwood products or glue-laminated timber, among other things,” Pagkratis tells us.
Intelligent pricing
Timberhub recently introduced AI-based pricing which is designed to be transparent and fair for both buyers and sellers. “Our goal is to offer our partners price intelligence and give them the latest insights into the market at any given time, while ensuring that our buyers have an optimal balance of quality, price and lead time,” Pagkratis explains. The final price is the result of numerous factors. In addition to purchase and sales prices, logistics costs are calculated dynamically based on the respective place of origin and destination of the offer. Timberhub can draw on what it refers to as “advantageous prices from our extensive logistics network.” “At the end of the day, our customers want to get the right products delivered at a good price without much effort. With the help of our data and sophisticated technology, we always find the perfect offer,” Pagkratis says confidently.
Timberhub’s intelligent pricing is based not only on successful deals but also on transactions which were not completed due to high costs or better alternatives. “This is particularly valuable information that also benefits our suppliers and supports them in their own pricing strategies,” Pagkratis emphasizes and sums up: “We are in close contact with both sides. Our goal is to have fair prices that benefit everyone.”
From dealer to partner – EUDR
In addition to timber trade, Timberhub plans to focus more on services and to position itself as a service provider for its customers. “The introduction of the EUDR is imminent. We want to take as much compliance work as possible off our partners’ hands and actively advise and support them – a worry-free all-in-one solution,” the passionate entrepreneur says.
