In 2024, Germany imported 52.1 million pallets, i.e. 1% fewer than in 2023. The last time a smaller number of pallets was imported was in 2011 (51.9 million pieces).
22.4 million flat pallets were purchased from Poland, which corresponds to a year-on-year decrease of 568,000 pieces or 2%. Figures published by Destatis also show a downward trend in imports from the Czech Republic (8.3 million pieces; -7%), Lithuania (2.2 million pallets; -12%) and Ukraine (1.9 million pieces, -19%).
Increases were recorded in pallet imports from the Netherlands (4.8 million pieces; +9%), Latvia (3.7 million pallets; +5%), Austria (1.8 million pieces; +17%) and Denmark (1.4 million pallets; +12%), for example.

In terms of exports, Germany recorded a year-on-year increase of 3% in 2024, which brings the total to 29.2 million pallets. It has to be said, though, that 2023 was the weakest year since 2015.
In 2024, Germany managed to increase its exports to the Netherlands by around a fifth to 6 million pieces. More pallets were also exported to Switzerland (4.3 million pieces; +4%) and Belgium (3.6 million pallets; +12%).
While deliveries to Poland remained more or less constant at 1.5 million pieces, smaller numbers of pallets were sold in Austria (3.3 million pieces; -9%), France (3.3 million pallets; -14%) and Italy (1.4 million pieces; -7%), as Destatis reports.
