After a slump in laminated timber exports in 2023, foreign trade grew by 5% last year, totaling 1.8 million m³, as Statistik Austria reports.
Austria exported 701,000 m³ of laminated timber to Italy, that is 9% more than in 2023. In total, Italy received 38% of all Austrian exports. Deliveries to Germany increased by 2% to 384,000 m³ in 2024. More laminated timber was also exported to Switzerland (141,000 m³; +7%) and Spain (100,000 m³; +12%).
Shipments to Japan grew by around a quarter and totaled 99,000 m³. The massive decrease in glulam and CLT exports recorded in 2023 was only partially offset by thus recovery. In fact, 2004 was the last year in which foreign trade with Japan was below the 100,000-m³-mark.
Last year, decreases were also recorded in laminated timber exports to France (126,000 m³; -12%) and the Netherlands (25,000 m³; -5%).
