West Fraser to acquire sawmill in Alberta

Spray Lake Sawmills produces lumber, surface-treated wood products as well as numerous products from sawmill byproducts. Its annual lumber production capacity is 155 million Bft (around 250,000 m³ 2-by-4 equivalent). Spray Lake Sawmills also holds two Forest Management Agreements granted by the Government of Alberta which authorize the sawmill to harvest approximately 500,000 m³ a year.

As West Fraser states, the CAD 140 million acquisition (€96 million) enables the group to increase its presence in Southern Alberta and expand its Canadian treated wood business, while providing access to a high-quality wood supply.

The closing of the transaction is expected to take place later this year following the completion of Canadian regulatory reviews and satisfaction of customary conditions.
