The Austrian Timber Industry Association reports that the log price index was at 99.46% in May (January 2001 = 100%). Compared to April, it fell by 0.42 percentage points and thus for the third consecutive month. In February, the log price index was at 108.84%. Year on year, it saw a 9.15 point decrease.
The sawn timber price index, on the other hand, has been increasing constantly since December 2019. According to the Timber Industry Association, it reached 118.56% in the month of May. Thus, a slight increase of 0.48 points was recorded compared to April, but a 5.62 point decrease compared to May 2019.
